This position is responsible for leading and overseeing the Billing Specialist personnel of Banner Pharmacy Services. Oversees pharmacy billing activities, including analysis, monitoring, reporting and billing adjustments to ensure accurate, timely and appropriate charge capture and billing. Coordinates and assists in identifying and correcting potential billing mistakes and in identifying and developing reimbursement opportunities and improvements for the System as relates to Pharmacy or pharmaceutical charges. Serves as a resource on issues regarding pharmaceutical charges.
Supervises the daily activities and operations of non-exempt, exempt and/or technical staff. Provides training and development for staff.
Improves efficiency and accomplishes operational objectives. Identifies and resolves tactical problems. Resolves increasingly complex customer complaints or problems.
Accountable for the daily performance of a unit. Makes decisions guided by policies, procedures and own business plan that impact the efficiency and effectiveness of own unit and other units with interrelated processes. Works within budgetary/financial objectives set by manager.
Interacts primarily with direct reports, supervisor, internal customers, peer managers, patients and physicians. Types of interactions are relatively consistent.
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Must be eligible for Pharmacy Technician licensure in the state of practice and/or technician certification where applicable.
Requires (or eligible for) pharmacy technician licensure in the state of practice (where applicable) and/or technician certification.
Must possess good organizational, problem solving and computer skills. Must have good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts.
Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, healthcare billing systems, Microsoft applications and automated dispensing systems. Significant technical and minimal managerial experience typically gained through 2 - 4 years relevant experience.
Prefer 3 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician in hospital pharmacy practice. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
