JOB TITLE: Senior Administrative Assistant LOCATION: Mill Street Office Building DEPARTMENT: Marketing & Communications WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time (1.0 FTE)
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing advanced administrative support for the System Vice President (VP) and other department leaders as assigned. Serves as primary liaison for principal(s) with department staff, system staff, executive leaders, and representatives from external organizations. Serves as a focal point to respond to inquiries, coordinates activities, and assures adequate communication and response. Ensures advanced administrative activities provide efficiency and organization for the System VP. Provides mentoring and direction for departmental clerical staff and interns. Performs duties to support the mission, vision, and values of the system.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to handle complex media issues while dealing in a professional manner as well as considering appropriateness of confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple activities in a calm and efficient manner. Demonstrated advanced administrative and problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with other support staff and under significant time pressures. Demonstrated organizational skills. Demonstrated competence in written, oral, and electronic communication skills. (Interpersonal/communication and technological effectiveness competencies).
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate’s Degree in Business, Secretarial, or related field preferred. Minimum 5 years of related administrative experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in an office environment. Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds involved.
