Nemours is seeking a Patient Services Specialist II (ED), Full-Time, to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.
Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Children’s Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.
The Patient Services Specialist II (PSS) in the Emergency Department performs patient admitting and registration activities in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This position is part of a 24/7 Patient Access Team that completes all registration, insurance verification and authorization, co-pay collection, admission, discharge and transfers for all emergent and urgent patients.
The PSS is required to provide excellent customer focused and efficient service to both internal and external customers, and represent both Nemours and the ED in a positive, professional manner. They are responsible for demonstrating a commitment to service, organization values, and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times.
Customer Service: answer phone lines in a prompt and courteous manner, triage call and handle appropriately.
Registration: collect, maintain and insure accuracy of patient information through the use of standard business practices.
Coordinate all necessary paperwork for registration, scheduling and appointment.
Financial: collect, verify and maintain patient insurance information, including authorizations and referrals.
Scheduling: understand visit types and proper utilization of questionnaires to efficiently schedule appointments.
Communication: daily management of electronic communication (Outlook messages, WebXchange, EPIC messages, Telephone Encounters).
Mailing of appointment reminder letters with appropriate packets as assigned.
Coordinates the release of information and medical record process.
Ensures coding information is complete on billing documents.
All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
High School Diploma required. Specialized (1 year of training beyond high school) required.
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years' experience required.
Customer service experience required.
Medical office and/or call center experience preferred.
