You Will Be Responsible For:
Verifies insurance coverage for all new patients.
Reviews coverage and explains specific patient responsibilities such as deductibles, copays, etc. to the patient. All information verified in writing to the patient.
Reviews the new patient checklist daily to identify self-pay patients.
Develops payment plans including self-pay contracts and time payment agreements, based on patientâ™s ability to pay, for patients referred from physicians and/or self-referrals.
On request, provides patients with an estimated quote of charges for services.
Reviews denial reports to identify delinquent accounts and resolve problem accounts or accounts failing to meet payment plans or financial agreements.
Verifies proper authorizations from insurance companies for the initial visit, follow up visits, chemotherapy visits, radiation visits and injections visits and enters authorization number in ARIA and Cerner.
Reviews appointment schedule in advance to update and maintain insurance authorizations.
Assists with Front Desk coverage and duties.
Resolves financial problems identified by the patient and addresses them in a timely manner.
Obtains precertification and authorization numbers for tests ordered by physicians.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge regarding medical insuranceâ™s coverage policies.
Responsible for other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Technical knowledge is needed in the medical insurance billing field through at least 1 year experience. Such knowledge may be obtained through some professional training or college education or by on-the-job training.
Medical terminology and proficient computer skills required.
Good customer service skills needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school graduation or equivalent required.
One to two yearsâ™ experience in a medical office setting and financial assistance knowledge is required.
