Access Service Representative II - PRN (as needed) - Taylor

JOB SUMMARY The Access ServiceRepresentative II obtains current andaccurate demographics and insurance information in order to register patient,verification of insurance benefits, negotiates and collects patient financialresponsibilities. Conducts patientinterviews to obtain demographic and financial data for registration, insuranceverification, precertification and billing. Performs cashieringresponsibilities according to BSWH policies when appropriate and if assigned,could potentially consume the bulk of the incumbent's responsibilities withinthe department. Ability to registerpatients in multiple locations. Understand the patient flow processes ineach area. Identifies process improvement opportunities that promote teamconcepts with co-workers while improving revenue cycle functions and thepatient experience. Successful completion of Patient Access Curriculum asidentified by Revenue Cycle leadership. Verifies patienteligibility for insurance coverage and appropriate benefit levels foranticipated services. Calculate and Collect all patient liability due accordingto BSW Financial Clearance Policies related to existing and/or bad debtaccounts. Determines patient liability and advises patient of depositrequirements per policy. Negotiates payment arrangements with patient wherenecessary per policy. Exhibits a high levelof empathy with the ability to effectively communicate with patients and familymembers during traumatic events, while demonstrating exceptional customerservice skills. Maintain a professional demeanor in a highly stressful andemotional environment, to include crime, behavioral health and/or suffering patientsin addition to life/death situations. Assists patients to nursing units byproviding directions, personal escort, and/or medical mobility assistance (ex;wheelchairs), when applicable.
