This position is responsible for supporting management in the billing and collection of accounts receivable for inpatient and outpatient accounts and/or resolving complex patient account issues. Understands the revenue cycle and the importance of evaluating and securing all appropriate financial resources for patients to maximize reimbursement to the health system.
Review all patients accounts related to Bankruptcy and Deceased accounts within 7 days of entering work queue to ensure that accounts are reviewed, stop bills are added and accounts pulled back from collections if is spouse is located.
Be well-versed in collection practices, understanding of the Attorney General Requirements
Manage both hospital and physician accounts in all systems and understand in depth the Registration, Hospital Billing, and Clinic Billing functions that are necessary to resolve accounts.
Mentors and trains staff in the PFS Representative position and Maintains the best practice routine per department guidelines.
Demonstrate proficiency in billing and/or collection of multiple payers billing and collection practices.
Responsible for the analysis and processing of correspondence including rejections, requests for medical records, itemized bills, clarification of detail on bill, etc.
Analyze paid claims for accuracy of payments and or rejections and properly account for payment and adjustments.
Monitors accounts for timely follow-up and prompt resolution.
Assists in continuously improving the aging of receivables while minimizing controllable loss categories (i.e. Timely filing).
Have detailed knowledge of the Functions within the Revenue Cycle and howit interacts in the life of a patient account.
Capable of handling incoming/outgoing calls if necessary.
Ensures that all written responses are clearly and professionally communicated.
Stays informed of updates to regulatory changes
Work incoming correspondences batches via OnBase workflow in 3-5 business days
Three or more years in an office clerical setting.
One or more years in a hospital or clinic business office setting
Ability to work independently.
Two or moreyears of experience in a hospital or clinic business office.
