Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Occupational/Employee Health Coordinator is responsible for management of the all Employee Health functions, the workers compensation program, ensuring compliance with California workersâ�� compensation laws while actively managing the hospitalâ��s workersâ�� compensation claims and expenses in coordination with the TPA. Administers the hospitalâ��s transitional dutiy program, return to work process and interactive process while developing new strategies aimed at returning employees to work and reducing workersâ�� compensation costs. Responsible for data reporting, tracking and trending related to work related injuries and illness, collaborating with hospital leadership, and return to work process. Oversees the maintenance of medical files and processing workersâ�� compensation and other related invoices. Perform other duties as assigned.
Accountable for ensuring DMC remains in compliance with all State of California workersâ�� compensation laws by completing, or supervising the completion of, the following: Ensures all workersâ�� compensation claims and required forms are filed correctly and in the time period prescribed by law. Determines if incident reports have been completed for all job related injuries and performs follow-up as necessary. Communicates with the Occupational Health Nurse, the Nursing Supervisor and the Emergency Department on a daily basis to ensure incident reports have been completed and proper follow up with injured employee has occured.
Accountable for actively managing DMC workersâ�� compensation claims. Acts as liaison between DMC, the injured employee and the TPA to ensure continued communication between all parties involved in the case. Assists with the involved parties to design a transitional work program designed to safely return the employee to active, meaningful, employment. Reviews workersâ�� compensation cases on a continual basis to ensure continued progress towards a final resolution and cost management of claim. Continually communicates with injured employees via telephone calls, letters and cards to ensure employees understand that DMC cares about their welfare and that the TPA is providing an appropriate level of service. Accountable for the Workplace Violence Injury process.
Accountable for the maintenance of the employee injury/workersâ�� compensation database while ensuring the database is effectively used to prepare forms, reports and required correspondence. Generates/creates regular injury data reports as required for committees. Provides monthly update reports to the CHRO, A-Team and. Creates custom reports as directed. Tracks and trends injury data and develops injury prevention/improvement plans in conjunction with hospital leadership.
Accountable for responding to employee injuries, ensuring employees receive the appropriate level of medical care. Responds to all work related injuries. Ensures an incident report and other required forms are completed for all occupational injuries.
Accountable for being the hospital liaison with the Tenet centralized LOA team. Informs and educates employees, regarding LOA service center and process. Provides applicable information to directors and LOA center when needed. Ensures all pertinent LOA information into the appropriate database. Oversees the Long Term Cost Center and transition process for employees. Monitors extended leaves and facilitates appropriate next steps. Actively manages the LOA return to work clearance process in conjunction with the Occupational Health team.
Accountable for the general operations and supervision of staff for the Employee and Occupational Health function. Ensures all assigned duties and responsibilities are completed on time and department remains within budget. Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: FTE management, creation and maintenance of all computerized and manual databases and filing systems. The payment of all bills and invoices pertaining to workersâ�� compensation and employee health. Ensures the storage of workerâ��s compensation and LOA records and files is in compliance with DMC and departmental policy.
Preferred: Bachelors in related field or equivalent experience
