SUMMARY: The Registered Dental Hygienist is responsible for providing dental hygiene care and education to our dental clinic patients. This position will also provide outreach and educational presentations as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES:
To provide basic hygiene services to as many people as possible under the direction of a dentist.
Child prophylaxis with Fluoride treatment
Root Planning/ Scaling
Patient education and instruction regarding oral hygiene.
Complete post operatory disinfection and barrier protection
Perform instrument sterilization and tray set up
Document patient services rendered as appropriate.
Review patient health history for pertinent findings.
Expose, develop and mount dental radiographs, as necessary
Participate in Chronic Disease Collaborative Team.
Other duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited Registered Dental Hygiene program.
Possession of a current California Registered Dental Hygiene License.
Two years experience
Current CPR certificate
Willingness and ability to follow clinic policies established as result of regulations and/or grant Requirements of State Department of Health, Rural Health Division, CHDP, State licensing and certification and the Board of Directors.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels).
Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff.
Must be able to have vision which is adequate to read memos, a computer screen, registration forms and other clinic documents.
Must have high manual dexterity.
Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.
