Duke University Health System seeks to hire a Clinical Operations Supervisor for Retina Laboratory (Eye Injections, Lasers, and Procedures) who will embrace our mission of Transforming Lives Transforming Care.
Occupational Summary
Administer and coordinate technical activities, educational programs, tests and determinations related to the operation of specialized clinical operation.
Work Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise the performance of routine and specialized technical procedures (eye injections and eye laser treatments) in a clinical area, in conjunction with Medical Director
- Manage team of procedure technicians who prepare patients for procedures and assist physicians in the completion of procedures and administration of therapies.
- Develop and implement departmental policy and procedures to solve specific operating problems and improve patient care.
- Plan and schedule work for the group to ensure proper distribution of assignments as well as adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
- Compile and prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
- Monitor, order and facilitate stocking of needed medications and supplies.
- Facilitate additions/deletions for the department formulary.
- Work with Medical Director to identify capital budget needs, determine fiscal requirement and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditures of budgeted funds.
- Maintain liaison with physicians, clinical personnel and staff to resolve problems, to offer advice concerning technical procedures, techniques and equipment, and to maintain conformance with specific operational standards and procedures.
- Develop and implement quality assurance programs relating to calibration and maintenance of equipment.
- Supervise and coordinate the patient billing activities, reconcile charges of medications and procedures post-encounter and ensure that providers complete and close encounters in a timely fashion.
- Coordinate and participate in training programs for technician staff.
- Direct departmental personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, transfers and vacation schedules.

Education
- Work requires a bachelor's degree in biology, physiology, psychology or related scientific field
Experience
