Duke Primary Care is the largest primary care network in the greater Triangle area with family medicine and internal medicine providers, and pediatricians in 34 locations throughout the Triangle.
PATIENT SERVICE ASSOCIATE - DUKE PRIMARY CARE PEDIATRICS
Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated withdaily clinic preparation process, patie nt identification, patient checkin/out, charge posting, cash management and patient appointmentscheduling. Position also involves customer servi ce, messagedistribution, ancillary scheduling and preparation and referr alsmanagement.
Prepare for clinic visits by reviewing next day patients andcompleting next day preparation act ivities. Enter pre-visit orders andprepare new patient charts. Pick up X -rays, officecharts, medicalrecords, reports, petty cash and collections bag. File history sheets,ancillary reports and all other required patie nt record documentation.Return medical records. Attach HIPPA/Medicare do cuments to theencounter forms.Check-in patient upon arrival in the pract ice. Identify correct patientinformation in Maestro Care. Verify patient demographic data. EditMaestro Care as needed. Accurately identify the appropriateaccountfor patient visit. Present and educate patients on req uired formsandobtain signature as required by policy and procedure. Comp letes allMaestro Care check-in filesand manage all appropriate alerts. Collectandpost co-payments and balances on accounts due. Imprint all pat ientspecific chart documents and requisition/transmittal documents. Copy ,file anddistribute insurance cards as indicated by procedure.Coordinate all labs/procedures as requested. Maintain private physicianoffice char ts.Prepare encounter forms. Investigate and account for missing encounte rforms.Audit encounter forms for completeness and accuracy beforebatchin g. Batches encounter forms or charge posting in Maestro Care.Schedule te sts andprocedures. Complete and distributeancillary service requisitions .Explain billing to patientsaccording to PRMO credit and collection poli cies.Determine the amountof cash to be collected based on insurance plan .Check-outpatients. Make return appointments by scheduling patients into thecorrect appointment type, entering the primary care physician orrefe rringphysician and scheduling tests and procedures.Answer telephone, tak e and deliver messages to physicians,nurses andothers. Report obtained medical information from patients and referringphysicians accurately, co mpletely and timely. Disseminate messagesaccording to practice communica tionstandards
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication. Basic PC and data entryskills. Knowle dgeof medical terminology and telephone etiquette.Demonstrated ability t oorganize and prioritize work, provide oral andwritten instructions, int eract tactfully with customers and establishand maintain effective relat ionships with others.
