Reporting to the East Region CFO, the VP Chief Financial Officer provides business unit executive oversight and support for the financial functions of the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Centennial to the Board, President, and management team. The CFO is responsible for the financial operations of the entire Medical Center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides strategic leadership and management of the Medical Center’s financial planning and budget processes.
- Ensures the integrity of the Medical Center’s monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, analyzes and interprets financial results, creates financial performance plans for the President, Board, and BSWH approval, implements and monitors performance to approved plans, and communicates directly with the Medical Center’s Board.
- monitors and controls the assets and commitments of the medical center at the direction of BSWH, Medical Center’s Board and President.
- manages the capital expenditure process and ensures adequate cash flow to meet the operating objectives of the Medical Center and BSWH.
- works closely to coordinate the Medical Center’s needs with the BSWH service providers (Financial Services, Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis, Government Reimbursement, Compliance, Treasury, Tax, Internal Audit, Revenue Cycle Services [Centralized Business Services, Access Services, Health Information Management, Revenue Cycle Improvement and Compliance, and Managed Care], Payroll, IT, and Materiels Management Services.
- Serves as an official corporate officer of the Medical Center. CFO serves as the Medical Center’s Compliance Officer.
- Leads monthly review of financial statements to ensure completeness, accuracy, and relevance; Performs monthly financial statement analysis and communicates results from operations to the Medical Center?s Board, President, Medical Staff, management team, and BSWH.
- Effectively and efficiently coordinates all Medical Center operational departments with the financial function in order to contribute to the overall goals of the Medical Center and BSWH.
- Financially evaluate operations on an ongoing basis for adherence to predetermined operational goals and report to Medical Center President and management team; Develop and help administer operational improvement plans when appropriate.
- Leads Medical Center strategic financial planning and budgeting processes to accomplish business unit goals established by BSWH; Communicates and interacts with Medical Center Board, President,, management team and BSWH to ensure approval of strategic financial plan and budgets; Operationalizes budgets (budget spread, financial system upload, and reconciles to approved budget).
- Responsible for communication of pertinent financial matters to the Medical Center Board and/or Board Finance Committee; Coordinates the desired actions pertaining to finance between Board and BSWH and executes approved actions.
- Coordinates the Medical Center’s input into tax returns and government cost reports; reviews tax returns and government cost reports with BSWH service providers; Medical Center officer who signs tax returns and cost reports.
- Responsible for integrity of Medical Center’s internal control structure; Coordinates with Internal Audit for interim audits and Financial Services for the annual external audit; Reports audit results and management letter points to the President and management team; Coordinates Sarbanes Oxley activity between the Medical Center’s Board and BSWH financial leaders.
- Establishes and maintains financial policies and procedures within the Medical Center and ensures its consistency with BSWH policies and procedures.
- Executive that actively coordinates and manages the Medical Center’s internal revenue cycle activities (access services, charge capture, charge master, health information management, billing and collections, customer service, account adjudication, and revenue cycle compliance).
- Works closely with BSWH Treasurer to provide necessary information to optimize the Medical Center’s and BSWH’ cash position; Works with BSWH Treasurer to ensure appropriate debt structure for the Medical Center and BSWH.
- Medical Center executive responsible for coordinating the procurement process with BSWH Materiels Management; Responsible for managing and tracking capital expenditures to the capital budget; Responsible for providing the appropriate lease/buy analysis to BSWH and provide recommendation on the appropriate financing vehicle.
- Leads and coordinates Medical Center’s financial analytical services and projects.
- Performs job duties and fulfils qualifications as defined in the attached Position Profile Addendum for the Entity Compliance Officer.
- Hire, train, and provide organizational support for key reporting areas of direct responsibility.
- Train and coach Medical Center team members on financial matters.
- Network and dialogue with middle and upper management regarding issues and concerns affecting efficiency, productivity or morale as it relates to those areas of responsibility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred
- CPA, CMA, CHFP, or FHFMA certification preferred
- 7 years of experience
