Atlantic Health System is currently seeking a Full Time Transcriptionist for our Atlantic Consolidated Lab in Morris Plains to work 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of department manager, performs a variety of tasks in support of Pathologists and other allied healthcare providers
Accountable for ensuring accuracy and completeness of all documents, tests ordered and patient case reports; which allows the Pathologists to focus on patient care
The Pathology transcriptionist is responsible for transcribing and/or editing pathology dictation processed through speech recognition technology by physicians and other healthcare providers, as well as research and administrative documents, in order to document patient care while consistently ensuring accuracy
Responsibilities include * Transcribing and/or editing pathology dictation processed through speech recognition technology * Ordering tests and stains for cases * Answering phones, and assisting callers with patient and pathology report requests, change of patient demographics, or providing related follow through * Coordinate the send out of blocks and slides for consultation * Prepares reports and slides for use during tumor conferences * Scanning and filing patient reports and results from consults and reference laboratories
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma/GED required
Formal medical transcribing training preferred.
Associate's degree preferred
Experience:
Six months transcription experience in medical setting highly preferred, with pathology experience highly preferred
Knowledge of Pathology Information System billing, and Tumor Conference preparation (all genres) preferred
Computer skills and medical terminology with pathology specialty preferred
