Job descriptionTrauma Trust, a busy non-profit trauma practice, seeks a Certified Medical Coder to be responsible for all aspects of professional coding for trauma, critical care and acute general surgery.Position is full-time Monday through Friday, onsite or remote.Qualified candidates should have at minimum 2-3 years coding experience, surgical professional coding preferred, trauma, critical care, general surgery a plus.Major Responsibilities:· Ensures that professional services are captured and coded, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and insurance requirements.· Evaluates and interprets medical records and reports in order to accurately code diagnosis and procedures.· Correctly enters coding information into Epic electronic medical record system.· Assists with the development of processes and procedures structured to ethically optimize reimbursement, limit liability and enhance data integrity.· Keeps up to date on billing/coding guidelines. Maintains coding certification and necessary CEUs.· Acts as a resource for coding issues and conducts provider education as needed.Skills and Experience: At least 2-3 years recent coding experience, experience coding surgical cases preferred. Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM and CPT4 coding necessary. Highly organized, self-motivated, detailed-oriented and energetic team player. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
