Position Summary: The Senior Patient Financial Navigator (PFN) assists patients and/or families access a variety of financial resources by evaluating the financial situation of uninsured or under-insured patients in accordance with regulatory compliance while maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity; determines eligibility for financial assistance or any available payer/assistance source and provides necessary assistance to enroll in available government programs. The Sr. PFN answers questions of patients and family members regarding their insurance, verifying insurance coverage and eligibility, provides estimates of financial responsibility, and negotiates payment arrangements. The Sr. PFN liaisons with Patient Financial Services and the Care Management team to ensure maximum cash flow and reimbursement for hospitals and acts as an advocate for the patient in resolving patient liability.
Minimum Requirements: Five (5) years of experience in healthcare collection, financial counseling, insurance benefit verification and/or precertification, third party payor, Medicaid case work or billing experience required
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Associates degree with business emphasis, public health administration or similar degree preferred One (1) year of business or college course work required National Association of Access Management Certification preferred Certified as an Application Counselor (CAC) within 90-days of employment
