Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY
This position will support the day to day operations of the Dermatopathology Office, which includes a clinical diagnostic lab. This will include support of the Dermatopathology Manager, Medical Director, and Dermatopathologists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• File clinical specimen slides in a high volume operation
• Serve as a direct point of contact, managing a dedicated calls, emails, faxes with physicians, patients, histology labs, vendors, billing, insurance, etc...
• Support Dermatopathology Medical Director and all Dermatopathologists as needed, from day to day operations to scheduling meetings, calls, or events
• Support Dermatopathology Manager as needed
• Handle all slide requests; organize, pull and track slides in multiple clinical systems and send via courier services or Fed Ex
• Assist with transcription services for diagnostic professional clinical reports; input orders as needed on immunofluorescence or special stains
• Manage logistics for slide and block storage ie; logging boxes on transmittal sheets and ensuring invoices are sent to appropriate personnel
• Problem solving on delinquent cases, assist dermpath physicians in completing delinquent cases (pull gross reports, track down cases, slides etc.). Ensure incomplete case reports are pulled routinely and cases are completed in a timely manner
• Assist with flow of cases for additional testing to either VUMC or external labs
• Interface with EPIC, CoPath, Workday, and other clinical or administrative systems
• Provide cross-coverage for Department administrative activities as needed
