The Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) is a preventive oral health professional. The RDH will work in partnership with dentists in providing optimal oral healthcare to the public. The RDH is expected to make clinical dental hygiene decisions, plan, implement, and evaluate the dental hygiene component of the overall oral health of the patient. In addition to routine prophylaxes, and deep cleanings, with, or without local anesthetic, oral health instruction is integral to the position.
